Officials at Grace Church Bath Campus said about 450 people attended private memorial services Thursday for four family members slain Sunday morning in a shooting rampage in Copley Township.The services celebrated the lives of Russell Johnson, 67; his wife, Gudrun “Gertie” Johnson, 64; their son Bryan Johnson, 44; and his daughter Autumn, 16.They were among the eight people Michael E. Hance shot in a spree on Goodenough Avenue and Schocalog Road. Seven died.Hance’s longtime girlfriend, Rebecca Dieter, remains hospitalized. Police now believe she was shot after the slaying of the Johnson family and Amelia Lynn Shambaugh, who was visiting the Johnsons’ home that day.Police have not determined Hance’s motive. A Copley police officer shot him to death during the rampage.The funeral service for Shambaugh, also 16 and a classmate of Autumn Johnson’s at Copley High School, is scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Grace Church Bath Campus, 754 Ghent Road. A private burial service will follow.In Lakeside Park, Ky., today, funeral services are to be held at 4 p.m. at Lakeside Presbyterian Church for Craig Dieter, 51, and his son, Scott Dieter, 11.A Summit County funeral home is handling private arrangements for Hance.In keeping with the wishes of the victims’ families, the Beacon Journal is not attending any of the funeral services.Autopsy detailsAdditional notes from the Summit County Medical Examiner’s autopsy reports indicate that all but one of Hance’s victims — Autumn Johnson — were shot in the head. The victims had as many as 21 gunshot wounds.Copley Officer Ben Campbell killed Hance with a single gunshot to his right upper chest. Drawings and raffles will be held for free sandwiches, drinks and other prizes.Bows also might be on sale for the community to put on their mailboxes in remembrance of the seven victims.
